Our Friend Paige

Last week Dani and I had the opportunity to have Paige visit us from her high school for a half day of shadowing. Although A little shy at first, we soon had her smiling and hopefully comfortable.
I had to make a delivery to a client that day so we invited her to come along. My thanks to MH for making her welcome.
I found out later that Paige had called three other photographers before us to ask about shadowing. Ah well..their loss...our gain!
Whatever your path, photography or space shuttle pilot, best of luck!

The last time Irene and Tim were photographed professionally was at their wedding. It was time to update. After some chit chat and bouncing a few ideas around, they decided that, cool or not, outdoors was where they wanted to be.
When possible I like to create lots of depth. The portrait by the trees gives us that. The profile has warmth, affection, and serenity.
Thank you Irene and Tim. It was a tad cool but we beat the snow.

Nicholas's new career

Jeanna and Michael's world has changed.....he's called Nicholas and he's now four months old.
Bright eyed, busy, and safely snuggled between Mom and Dad, he's working on his first modeling assignment.

It was a chiiillly day last Saturday. But not so cool that John, Val, Ryan and , Vanessa couldn't go out and have some fresh air fun!
The big issue was the wind; so much for all the hair preparations!! However.....we did it! Together we created images I know they are going to enjoy.
Anyway, those warm fall days, with the scent of falling leaves, are highly over rated!

Remove door; tighten seat belt; let's go!!

Had an opportunity yesterday to take some aerial photographs. Here are some images showing the progress of the Epcor Bldg on 101 St. and, (the must discussed over the years), Federal Bldg on 109 St.
Notice the amount of green we still have in Edmonton.

A Dogs Life

Ahhhh…the acreage life; over four acres of beautiful trees, flowers, a Mom and Dad, and two lovely daughters. Then there’s the head of the household, Bailey the dog; an affectionate companion, great cuddler, iffy watch dog, and great wasp killer!
My thanks to Bailey and family for all your warm smiles.

Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice

Still waters run deep. The shy little Zoe, who met me with her mother at the studio, turned into a jumping whirlwind with twinkling eyes. There must have been something in those hot pink socks!

Another First

What a thrill for Danielle and I to have been selected to photograph our first Hindu wedding. Thank you Shalini and Kam.
The colours were stunning and the atmosphere almost surreal as we photographed the ancient wedding rituals.
As in all weddings though, two people are pledging their love and lives. Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, whatever, the emotions are real.
And another first; as one must remove their footwear before entering the temple, this was our first wedding ceremony assignment running around in socks only. Boy, am I glad I darned the holes in my socks the night before! I can't speak for Danielle!!;-)

Korner Lunch

When I first got into photography we were set up on the 2nd floor of an old building on 95 St. Damn cold in winter & boiling hot in summer. We'd often walk two doors up to the Korner Lunch run by Sam and his wife. Soup and a Sandwich for about a buck ninety five...no tax!

Brandy and Travis Wedding

July 25, 2009...it was, I believe, the hottest day of the year for Brandy and Travis. AND...the weather was really warm as well!!
Danielle and I certainly had a warm reception from both families as we followed them through their day.
A bit of heat...slightly swollen digits..third finger left hand...and that ring sat perched between the knuckles for awhile. However, Bandy was not to be denied and eventually that band slipped into its rightful place. That's now a little story for their future family.
Thank you to Brandy and Travis, June and Don, and Elaine and John.

Cheers!

A Couple of Cuties

We had the opportunity to enjoy some time with Grace and Sierra. Grace is the older sister: impulsive, busy, full of beans and, 'a model in training'.
Sierra is the thinker. She is quiet and tends to watch the world a wee bit before she jumps in.
In one of our family groupings both wanted to have their arms around Dad. A few tears later we got everything solved and the world was right again.
Thanks for the memories.

Consumer Choice Award

We recently received some great news in the mail. It reads:

The Consumers’ Choice Award (CCA), in association with Leger Marketing, is pleased to announce that your firm has been chosen by Edmonton consumers as 2009 winner for Photography.

These Awards are presented to businesses in all the major cities across Canada. This is quite a thrill for us. We have been aware of the CCA program but never really knew how the Awards were established. Consumers are asked “…which business is your choice for excellence in each category? Please consider the elements of quality, service, value, and appearance”.

Thanks CCA…you’ve made my day!!

Canadian Blood Services

Every year here at C.W.Hill Photography we donate to the Canadian Blood Services corporate challenge. The challenge is a great way to put a friendly competitive edge on blood donations and greatly helps save many lives each year.
The winning teams in each division get a beautiful photographic print as shown here.

If you would like to learn more about giving blood you can visit their website http://www.bloodservices.ca/centreapps/Internet/UW_V502_MainEngine.nsf/page/Home?opendocument
